ZigBee channel 20
Location New Zealand
I have a problem that has started whereby all Zigbee devices that I have trie have had issues with non-response to any requests. The problem is intermittent, but by far the majority of requests do not work. The one Zwave device I have is working perfectly.
The problem first started about a week or so ago while using chanel 20. I am not aware of making any changes to the hubitat environment or my wifi immediately prior to the problem starting.
I have tried:
Updating to latest version of software.
Doing a soft reset.
Trying channels 18 & 22 (on both of these channels, nothing that I tried worked). Reverting back to channel 20, and I have intermittent but many problems.
Thanks for the suggestion, it's the sort of 'think outside the box ' I'm looking for.
I have no other ZigBee hubs in my setup, and in total 25 ZigBee devices in my home, 1 Zwave, and a number of wifi devices, like google nest, phones etc, all attached to my 1 HE hub.
What channel is your wifi on? Anything in the logs? Start looking for something that is chatting too much. It could be overwhelming the mesh. Check your hub events to see if the zigbee radio is shutting down.
Thanks for the suggestions. I checked logs first, but could not find anything relevant. I then scanned my my wifi to see what channels were being used. I found that the 2.4Ghz was crowded, to put it mildly. I have removed some wifi devices and success! The ZigBee devices on my HE are all working perfectly again. So issue is resolved, and thanks again for you assistance.
I'll re-introduce wifi devices one by one to identify the errant device(s), and also do a bit more self-education to better understand how ZigBee and 2.4Ghz wifi channels overlap, or interfere with each other.
