Zigbee Ping Toggle

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but I can't find it in the forum.

Just upgraded to .135. The Zigbee Ping toggle is on by default. Is that where they should be, or should I turn them off?

See: Zigbee Details | Hubitat Documentation

It is on by default, and it is that way because it seemed to help certain devices in testing from "falling off" the network. If it is causing problems for you instead, you can turn it off for either individual devices or your network as a whole.

Note that in many cases, there won't be any affect at all; it only tries to ping devices it hasn't heard from in three hours.

I turned it off for everything except my Geix irrigation valves that seemed to function more reliably with ping enabled. Then I checked my other Zigbee devices check in times over the course of several days. There were a few mains powered devices that weren’t checking in as often as I expected, so I toggled on the ping for them. My Lightify 4-button switches don’t check in very often (~ once daily), and work just fine, so I left ping disabled for them, fearing decreased battery life for these buttons that sip from a CR2450 battery for at least 2 years.

Was the ping not there in previous versions? Or was there and now the toggle was added?

It is a new addition. I think it was only in the beta (maybe one public release) before getting the toggle added. It was added to help with devices that won’t stay connected.
