I had a group of 5 bulbs "Generic Zigbee RGBW Light" defined in "Groups and Scenes"'.
After turning off the light with its standard power switch and then turning the power back on, 2 of the smart lights did not respond to the group commands. They still responded to their individual device commands. After I removed and added the bulbs back into the group, they all worked good. I thing that the bulbs themself lost their Zigbee group assignments after being power cycled. I would like to know how to verify this by using HE logs or by monitoring the Zigbee traffic.
If these devices will work using the advanced drivers then these will restore any zigbee groups if the device resets itself and rejoins the network.
You already know its not a good idea to switch power on a zigbee bulb so we wont go over that.
What are the advance drivers?
On the device page, go to the Device Information section, then to the (driver) "Type" dropdown menu and try selecting "Advanced Zigbee RGBW Bulb" instead of the "Generic..." driver type you have now.
After saving the driver change be sure to click the configure command...
FYI, not all zigbee bulbs/lights will work with the Advanced drivers.
The Advanced Zigbee RGBW Bulb driver worked for me.
Time will tell if the group assignment sticks.
Thanks everyone.
