Zigbee device rejoin

When the battery in a Zigbee device dies, should simply inserting a new battery cause the device to start working again? Or does the device need to be included again?

I have a Samsung water leak sensor and the battery died about two months ago. I installed a new battery, but is there anything else I need to do?

It should automatically rejoin the mesh. No need to re include.

But if it doesn't automatically re-join, there's no issue with running "Device Discovery" again.
Launch the HE "Start Zigbee Pairing"
Put your device into pairing mode and HE will come up with:
"Found Previously Joined Device"
And maintain all your names, rules.. etc.

FYI- Hub might not tell you "Found Previously Joined Device " but it will usually still reactivate the device
Check the device's page to see last event, to see if it reconnected

Not all battery operated devices rejoin when the battery is changed. A minority of them do not. Especially with some Zigbee devices.

As Rxich states, in those cases rediscovering the device, without having it deleted, will work. No further action will be required.
