Zigbee dead - again

I had to replace my C8 (with a C8 Pro) when it died a while back.

I recently posted an issue on trying to get my motion sensors to re-pair.

I was trouble shooting and it looks like, despite multple restarts/hard boots, the zigbee radio isnt working.

Is there anything I can do or is this new unit now dead?

Thanks,

I’ve never been in this situation, but can you select a channel and “update channel and power”?

You can't update the radio if the radio is offline. @mhperlman1 can you go to Settings then press Shut down? When the hub's led turns red, unplug the hub for a minute before plugging it back in. Let us know if power cycle brings the Zigbee back online. If not, you may want to create a warranty case or if you are covered by the Hub Protect, a subscription case:

Seems to have made a bit of progress. Shows rebooting but I get a channel and PanID. Still not functioning.

In this order ..
I would try changing your channel to : 20
Then .. goto : ip:8081 < http://IP-OF-HUB:8081
click restore previous version < 2.3.9.147
after reboot .,. goto settings / reboot / advanced
make sure you click rebuild and purge ..
let it reboot. < will take a wile. < let things settle see what happens.

The OP is better off working directly with @bobbyD and following his suggestion to submit a warranty case if this doesn’t promptly resolve after power cycling the hub.

Receiving two lemon hubs is really unlikely, but whatever the issue is, Bobby is in the best position to figure it out.

Thanks - I'll wait for @bobbyD to weigh in, but I'm willing to try anything.

I still have my c7 that was rock solid on Zigbee. I see mention of people running two different hubs, but I'm having trouble figuring out what the proper way to get it up and running would be. Do I need to factory reset the c7 and start from scratch or is there a way to have it just find/run the Zigbee devices and leave the Zwave to the c8 pro? I used the c7 to create a backup and move to the c8 pro but have added some sensors/lights since then.

Looks like your radio may be bombarded with simultaneous events that may be overwhelming it. Do you have any Zigbee devices that may produce excessive traffic, such as power reporting? Also, you have quite a few sleepy devices and have the polling enabled. I would disable the polling on Zigbee devices from Zigbee Details page, then reboot the hub to see if that makes a difference.

I turned off the polling. Is there an easy way to find which one might be producing excessive traffic?

I rebooted and it is still showing the radio rebooting - how long should that take?

Thanks,
Mark

The easiest way is to screen the past logs. See if you have devices generating events every few milliseconds.

That's not good, please power cycle the hub by shutting down from Settings, then unplug the hub for a minute.

Houston, we may have a problem.

Is that alert a firmware upgrade? I would do it...

the update that came yesterday seems to have helped my situation a bit

Roger that  Please check your emails for more details.

Thank you!!!!

Is there a document that would explain how to split the networks between the c7 and 8?

Any thoughts on what to do? I tried reboots and power cycles?
Thanks

Ok, I was able to restore the zigbee from my prior hub and zwave from the recent c8 pro. The zwave is working but the zigbee radio still having issues. It shuts down, reboots and just flat out doesnt want to work. This is on a new c8 Pro. I find it hard to believe that these are all hardware failures. Is it possible that something in my backup is killing the radios?

What is your power supply? Test with the included adaptor and cord.

What is your channel / power set to?

You could try doing a Zigbee radio reset and see if it still has the same issue. Worst case you leave it reset and have to pair your devices back again. With Zigbee they will re-attach to the entity on the hub so its not that difficult other than pushing the buttons on every device.

No luck on the reset.

I have it on a power strip usb port. I can change it to a supply. The replacement didn’t come with a supply. What are minimum power requirements and I’ll exceed them.

Thanks!

Any 5V USB-A supply will work, at least 1A which is what the supplied one is. I run my main hub off an old iPhone block because it is so tiny it doesn't block plugs.

You did a reset from Advanced in the diag tool? There have been cases where it does not actually reset, might want to try it a second time for good measure. I am surprised that did not resolve it. I think once it is reset all the device will still be on the Zigbee details page but with lines through them indicating they are not connected to the radio anymore (cannot be certain on that but I think they added SOME sort of indication they are no longer attached to the radio).
