I have a GE Zigbee Bulb (old...Might have been the OF Wink Bulb) that is turning itself on and off randomly.
The bulb is located about three feet form the C7 hub.
There are two rules associated with this bulb. One to turn the bulb on at sunset and one to turn it off at at 812 (when the Roomba finishes cleaning for the night)
As you can see from the logs, the bulb has a mind of its own:
If you look at the Events tab on the device page, it will tell you what told it to turn on or off, be it a rule or some other app like the HomeKit Integration.
Sounds a little similar to what just happened to me recently. I thought it was random for a while also, but when I looked at my full log I noticed that a Zigbee button on a different floor of the house was pushed right before the light in my kitchen turned on.
Somehow the Zigbee button was sending direct commands to the light, even though there were no rules or anything else associating the button to the light
Unfortunately Its coming on at a time when everyone is in bed and no buttons are being manually pushed and I dont hace any rules that run at that time either
Do you use Alexa by chance. If so, check that Hunches are turned off. I have seen similar occurrences where this was the problem but I'm just guessing.
The issue is that there are no entries in the log but the light is on. It shows off at 1012 in the evening per the rule and I can confirm that it is .
However when we get up in the morning the light is on and there are no log entries that show that it was turned on by the hub and when I go to devices in the app to turn it off the light shows as off. Only way I am able to turn it off in the app is to click the icon to turn it on and then click it again to turn it off.
Did you try the usual for wonky processor controlled devices? Remove the power for a while. If that does not work, replace it with a virtual device place holder for your rules. Then remove it from Hubitat. Then factory reset it. Then add the device back replacing the virtual place holder with the blub restoring the original configuration.
For the few moments it would take, I would recommend you do that.
But don't add the light to any rules, or grant access by Google or Alexa, etc. Just add it as a new device, and don't even use it, and wait 24 hours to see if it comes on by itself.
My experience is that when a Zigbee bulb loses power momentarily, it will turn on when the power is restored. So check that the lamp is plugged in securely, the bulb is tight in the Socket, and turn switch on the lamp on and off a few times to clean the contacts.
Ok...So here is what I did and the results
Removed the bulb from HE
Removed all rules associated with the Bulb from HE
Factory reset the bulb (3 seconds on and 3 seconds off until single blink
Successfully added bulb back into HE (Did not add any Rules etc)
Tested Bulb via devices tab
Results
Bulb flashes
Bulb turns off from flashing via off command
Bulb DOES NOT Turn on via on command
