Hello, trying to figure out how to use the "relay" button on a ZEN 30 as a simple digital switch, (control a rule/automation of a smart bulb) but I am at a loss on finding on 'how' to use that button digitally? ie the button itself (on/off, toggle, etc) is not referenced anyplace I can see.
I found the child settings for the main switch, but they don't relate to the actual relay switch.
If you have a dual band SSID (that serves both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz), and the router has any sort of automatic band steering sometimes they will kick a device off the 2.4 to try and get it to join the 5Ghz. If the device does not work on 5Ghz it will just keep reconnecting to the 2.4Ghz or possibly give up.
This is why I have a separate IoT SSID that only has 2.4Ghz on it.
Forgive my ignorance on this topic, but what else is there to setting up a IoT SSID; in terms of making sure everything will still communicate with the phone/apps, and the hub(s) such as the matter over thread Apple TV that reside on the 'main' SSID?
I am not a master at subnet routing (or whatever the right term is)
It greatly depends on the router. For my ASUS I just created a guest network and then enabled the setting to give it regular LAN access. Most people would keep it segregated but then that causes a bunch of other issues I don’t want to deal with.
They are separate. I was fearful it things wouldn't work, but they do.
If I understand it right (still learning all this stuff) it's all associated by their respective 'hubs,' even though on different VLANs and addresses. I originally thought the 'hubs' would need to talk to the IoT network.
Ok back to the ZEN30... I am losing my mind over this switch. I updated to 2.4.4.155, and now the "relay switch" thinks it's a 5 button scene controller, and I am at a complete loss. I cannot change the type now. I do have error logs but I have no idea what they mean.
It was working as desired before from the physical button, but it is now not. The software "buttons" from webpage and HomeKit work fine. (but not the physical button)
Sorry everyone I am growing very frustrated on what in my mind should be very simple stuff.
I’ll jump in since I am a big fan of Zooz. Here is what I found about current firmware. Make sure it’s up to date and you are using the correct driver. There are Zooz 5-button devices, Zen32/35 that maybe you accidentally selected as the driver under device info/type. I see you have it as a central scene controller. That is your issue I think. Maybe that should be Zooz double switch.
For the Zooz ZEN30 Double Switch (700 series), the latest firmware is
3.30 (as of mid-2025) which separated ramp rates into four parameters. For the newer 800LR model, firmware 4.1 or higher is current. Always verify your hardware version (700 vs 800LR) and download the correct firmware from the Zooz support site.

Key Firmware Details for ZEN30 (700 Series):
v3.30: Separated ramp rate settings into four new parameters.
v3.20: Updated for 700 Series Z-Wave chip, better range/speed.
v1.11: Added parameters 28 and 29 to disable scene control.
v1.05: Fixed LED behavior for dimmer.

Important Notes:
800LR Models: Ensure you use the specific firmware for the 800-series long-range hardware if applicable (e.g., v4.x), as v3.x is for the 700-series.
How to Update: Use the Z-Wave OTA update feature in your hub (e.g., Hubitat, Home Assistant) and ensure you use the specific .bin or .gbl file provided by Zooz.
Verification: You can check the current firmware on the back of the device switch itself or in your Z-Wave controller interface.
Thank you; Current firmware is 4.30. 4.40 is available but I am not excited to remove the switch
I have that device driver in the parent, but the child (the relay switch) is automatically(?) populated (greyed out) and I cannot figure out how to change it.
I am not sure if it is was set to a central scene dimmer when working, or if this somehow changed with the firmware update or some other event.
Another update, I tried to update the firmware (4.40...gbl) with the tool, it gives me the "please wake up your sleepy device." I push buttons, etc, I cannot locate the device instructions to ''wake it." This is odd to me since it is not a battery powered device...
