Zen16 basic question

Yeah the ZEN16 feels like overkill for a basic garage control, but the nice thing is you can power it from a cord, its not too expensive, and it doesn't need to go into a hobby box or anything since it is self contained. I just have mine mounted to the ceiling right above the GDO powered with the USB cord plugged into the same outlet as the GDO.

If you want to give the more complicated way a shot, set Input Type SW1 to option 3. Set Input Type SW2 to option 10, and set Input Control SW2 to "Report Input Status Only"

Or if you really want a separate child "switch" for SW1 you can set Input Type SW1 to option 10 also, but leave its input control at the default so it will trigger R1 automatically.

You may also want to set the "auto off" for R1 to ~4 seconds so that it cannot get stuck on by accident.

After you change those input types you have to exclude and pair the ZEN16 again so that it sends out the correct notifications. You should end up with the 3 relay childs and 1 or 2 sensor (switch) childs depending on how you set it.

And then from there you could create an automation that triggers the R1 on for 2 seconds when the SW2 is switched on.

I would also setup the Garage Door app: [RELEASE] Zooz Garage Door Opener

I've been using that app for years now.
What's nice is that the 3 relays of the ZEN16 work well with my three garage doors.
Older door opener, so easier to hook up.
There's also a wireless keypad on the outside of the garage.
Everything works as it did before if Hubitat goes down.
Can recommend the Ecolink tilt sensor. The Zooz 800LR.....not so much.
I use a ZEN34 wireless switch to operate the driveway gate as well as the garage door.
I think the metal door was interfering with the oem garage door remote.
I keep the remotes in the glove box....just in case, lol.

I chose the simple is better method. WAGO connectors to tie all the trigger inputs (including the ZEN16) together with a single pair of wires from the WAGO to the opener.
