ZBMINI to detect switch position

Hi all,

I'm using a C7 hub with version 2.3.6.146.

I'm trying to use a Sonoff ZBMINI to 'relocate' a light switch. I've tapped into power from a nearby plug and want the relay to detect if a switch is in the on or off position. From there the hubitat would trigger another relay wired in where the switch is now.

I'm not able to get the hubitat to recognize the switch position. Any ideas?

The ZBMINI doesn't do what you'd like it to do. It only treats the switch toggling as a signal to toggle the relay. You can flip the switch quickly up/down or down/up and it will miss the second.

That's what I was afraid of. Do you know of any relays that would do what I'm trying for?

Shelly Relays and Zen16/17 are sophisticated enough to do what I think you are asking and report the status of the relay and switch inputs separately, and in fact are configurable in how those switch inputs function.
Here's a shelly I have setup for garage door use:

"Edge" is basically how the ZBMINI functions (unless it misses one because you are fast).

And Zen17 input choices:

So I'm trying to understand what you're looking for. You have 2 boxes

Box A with a ZBMINI and a switch connected in new location
Box B with a relay and where an existing switch is

And you'd like to switch the state of the relay in Box B based on flipping the switch in Box A? Do you have anything connected to the relay of the ZBMINI? If not, you can just have relay B follow the state of the ZBMINI fairly easily.

Yes, that's correct. Box A just has power pulled from an outlet, so no load involved. It just needs to be able to tell if a physical switch is on or off.

Looks like the Zen17 or Shelly relays are a better fit for my needs. Was hoping to keep with zigbee/zwave so will likely give the Zen a shot.

Basic rule...then do another for off:

or a little simpler with rule machine that would do on/off for you:

You can also use Built in app Mirror Device and slave Box b's relay to the ZBMINI.

Perfect, thanks!
