Z-Wave region setting reverts to “US LR” after every save or reboot

I’m having a persistent issue with my Hubitat hub’s Z-Wave radio region setting.
No matter what I do, the hub reverts to “US LR” after every attempt to save “US” and after every reboot. I have 10-15 year old gen 1 Z wave Leviton Switches, dimmers, so I must rely on mesh.

Steps tried: Full Radio Reset via :8081, multiple reboots, power cycle.
LED solid green; hub otherwise healthy.

Details:

  • Hub Model: Hubitat C-8 Pro
  • Platform Version: 2.4.3.137
  • Z-Wave Radio Firmware Version: ??? I can't find this
  • MAC: 34e1d18229dd
  • LED Status: Solid green (hub otherwise responsive)
  • Network: Wired Ethernet

Steps I’ve already tried:

  1. Changed region to US under Settings → Z-Wave Details → Z-Wave Settings and saved — change doesn’t persist.
  2. Performed Full Z-Wave Radio Reset via http://<hub_ip>:8081 → Z-Wave Radio Tools, selected “United States (US)” — still reverts to “US LR” after reboot.
  3. Attempted multiple graceful reboots and one controlled power cycle — same result.

It seems the Z-Wave 800-series radio’s NVRAM is stuck in LR mode. Could engineering please re-flash or reset the Z-Wave radio firmware remotely? Otherwise, I will need a replacement hub.

This is intentional. The US LR "region" is still capable of supporting mesh devices; it's just that the other setting does not support LR, which can cause problems and was the reason for automatically migrating this setting to the new value (which was not an option until the platform introduced LR support).

It's not clear: are you experiencing any problems, or just wondering? If you're experiencing problems, this is not the cause. If not, you're good to go!

While I'm able to exclude these legacy Leviton Z wave devices (previously attached to a Vera Pro Z wave hub), I'm not able to add any of the excluded devices to the Hubitat, despite moving the new hub close to the switches I'm attempting to include in the Hubitat. I have moved the Hubitat device to a central location in my house, connected to an ethernet cable that runs to a stable and existing gigabit switch. I've tried both fixed and dynamic IP addressing for the Hubitat and have also tried inclusion of new devices with the Hubitat connected to home Wifi. It is good to know that LR mode also supports these legacy mesh networks. Clearly if I can exclude, the Z wave chipset in these old Leviton devices is functional. Thanks for weighing in. Factory reset the devices. Make sure you're using the OEM power supply. Make sure you have no ghosts
