Z-wave Plus plug recommendations?

What do you guys recommend for z-wave plus plugs. I just need a simple on/off that’s reliable without lag?

I have the levinton plugs. I have 3 which have bad delays/lag. I’m starting to suspect the plugs and not the mesh. Plugs are anywhere between 3 feet to 10 feet away from the hub.

I have GE zwave+ in-wall receptacles, Leviton zwave in-wall receptacles, Leviton appliance outlets, Monoprice zwave+ outlets, and Dome zwave+ outlets. None of them show any lag. I used to have significant lag when I was using the zwave poller app.

All zwave PLUS wall powered devices should be about the same speed (at least on outlets, not as true on motion sensors - but those are typically battery powered anyway). They all use the exact same chip, so other than minor differences in programming, they are the same speed.

Hm.

I find the lag kicks in if I’m manually turning it off and on over and over. I will see it lag out.

If I do this with the zigbee plugs or Lutron switches I have no issues.

Don't know what to say. I've tried 7 different zwave PLUS outlets and all report status immediately. Now zwave non-plus/regular is a different story.

  1. What specific make/model are you using?
  2. What do you mean by "lag"? What isn't updating happening quickly, exactly?

If I hit off and on and back on. Takes a couple seconds to catch up

Interesting. I think I have one of those laying around. If I find it, I'll take a look.

Edit: Also, where specifically are you looking to see the update? Obviously dashboards update slower than device details, Which in turn update slower than watching the live logging....

Sounds like a congested or poor z-wave mesh. Do other z-wave devices react instantly?

Everything is close.

I have 6 plugs and 3 contact sensors, and lastly the aeotect siren.

GI’ve moved one plug farther down to the other end of the house by the patio door.

I have 3 outdoor plugs.

I have this feeling some stuff ends up using those outdoor plugs as routes and when the weather is bad it causes issues.

So I moved a plug just on the inside of the patio door.

I will keep and eye on it. As of right now it seems like things are working good.

Its recommended to do a z-wave repair after any changes to the topology.

Recommend, and often necessary. Zwave devices don't dynamically change their route table like zigbee does.

So moving a zwave device, and not doing a repair, does zero in terms of fixing routing issues UNLESS the device had the desired route in it's table already and the primary route isn't available due to the move.

I failed to mention that I did do a zwave repair
