Z-Wave node dropped

Have an older GE outdoor plug (model ZW4201). It controls some lights: on at dusk, off at 10:00 pm. Last night, lights went on. They did not go off. Nothing could get the plug working: refresh, depower/power, reboot hub.

While still listed among my devices, when I went looking for it's z-wave node, it was not to be found. Sure of this, checked the long list three times.

General exclusion then inclusion and the device is working fine,

But am curious as this is a first for me: What would cause the device to have it's z-wave node dropped? And, should I look to be replacing the device with a more recent vintage?

Using a C-8 with latest update. Device was added using "generic z-wave outlet." No moisture of any sort last night.

Thx for any insights.
