Z-Wave Network Failing

PoE: have seen the article and am using the supplied PSU.

Many thanks for staying with me on this issue but I cannot see any way to include devices that are more than a single hop away from the hub. If an 800 series repeater will not include when it is within line of sight of an included, powered switch then I'm not sure I can do anything else.

I use all Zooz devices, maybe it's a quirk of them?

My entire house is Zooz devices, I write all the custom/advanced drivers for them. Never have had any such problems. I do usually pair battery devices near the hub since the device can be moved easily, but anything else gets paired in place.

Try shutting hub down and swapping the two antennas around. Maybe the one on the Z-wave side has something wrong with it.

I would also try a different power block, 1amp or higher high quality (I use old iPhone blocks due to the small size).

My home has conduit as well. My C8 Pro mesh is significantly smaller (~20 devices, 6 500 series dimmers) than the OP and I don't have any problems. My old C7 did have lots of route changes on those dimmers, but they worked. I second the antenna check. Not sure if 'acquired' means new from Hubitat or 2nd hand. So another thing to check is to see if there is a Z-Wave firmware update button at the top of the Z-Wave page.

I bought this "new" C8 hub from Ebay but it did look new, in the original box as if it hadn't been opened. It did have old software so I updated that before I started.

I've been investigating some more and I am beginning to suspect the C8 hub, either corrupted software or a broken Z-Wave radio.

In a couple of days I'll go through the same rebuild steps with a C7 hub and see if that performs better. If so I'll do a full hardware reset on the C8, swap the antenna and give it more power!

Updating the Z-Wave firmware is separate from updating the overall hub platform. Look at the top of the Z-Wave details for a button to update the radio.

There are no z-wave firmware updates for the C8, only the C7 had OTA z-wave firmware updates.

Problem solved!

I don't use Zigbee so I swapped the antenna over and used a larger (3.5A) power supply. Now every powered device has included with the hub in its central location and all but one have connected directly.

Many thanks for all the help.

A larger power supply wont give you more power, the hub will only draw what it needs up to 1A. But you either had a bad supply or possibly the one antenna was bad.

If you can determine it was the antenna it might be worth doing a warranty case to try and get a replacement antenna just in case you want to add some Zigbee devices. (I just re-read you got it on eBay so you may be out of luck for the antenna).
