I haven't had to add any z-wave devices in quite a while, so apologies if some of this is basic stuff!
I recently added an exhaust fan in the garage and a UltraPro z-wave switch to control power to it. I tried to pair the switch a few times but while it appeared to pair, I could not control it from the device page. Ultimately, I decided to remove it but it would not "exclude" now. After a couple of failed attempts, I was able to remove it from the z-wave details page (refresh until "remove" appeared and then removed it). However, it is still listed in the device list. Is this expected? If yes, how do I remove it from the device list?
I replaced the physical UltraPro with a Zooz Zen71. I paired it the old way (without Smart Start). It paired successfully and I can control it from the device page. However, on the z-wave details page, the device shows no neighbors and no routing and it doesn't show up in the z-wave topology map. This is my first z-wave 800 LR device, so don't know if this is normal. If not normal, what should I do?
It’s normal. LR is direct to hub (star topology, not mesh), and there are no neighbors or routes for that reason, either. Topology would be boring (line straight to the hub) for all of the devices for that reason as well, possibly why it’s not on the map.
EDIT: But if by "the old way" you mean classic inclusion/exclusion on the Add Device page, that wouldn't be an LR node; you need SmartStart for that. What has changed recently (v2.5.1) is that SmartStart is now available from this page as well, not just the mobile app.
So it should have neighbors and routes defined? It works from the device page though, so now I'm confused. BTW - I had to paired it when my internet service was down (whole day outage!!), and when trying to scan/add to the mobile add, the Smart Start option was not available
Just delete the device and re-pair it using smart start and it will pair in LR mode. (I assume that is what you want). Smart start defaults to LR pairing but you can override it to mesh.
