I'm running 7.23.4 on the C8Pro.
A device I have, actually many, came out with a firmware update in April '26 to 7.24.1.
Judging from some Zooz change logs, it seems like they may have updated across the board.
Are there ramifications to the mismatch?
Unless you are experiencing an issue with your device and the device release notes indicate that the newer device firmware will fix a device bug there is no serious reason to update your device firmware.
There are several on this forum that are a bit special and update device firmware regularly (myself included), but it typically provides little value unless you are having an issue. So unless you are having an issue, there is no issue.
Thanks. I'm currently putting some plugs back into service, so I figure, what the heck. It's not so onerous as it used to be.
Plugs should be easy peasy, battery powered / sleepy devices can be a bit more challenging. Yeah, if were bringing devices back into service iβd be updating their firmware too.
Yes Zooz updated several devices with the 7.24.1 library. Sadly they so far have skipped certain models like the ZEN77 H/W 4 (800 LR device) since they came out with a newer one just recently called H/W 5. From what I gather H/W 5 was mostly mechanical changes to improve the plastic paddle design and a few minor PCB changes. So oddly they have abandoned the H/W 4 users which until just the past couple months were new product. A puzzling strategy to strand users so abruptly.
Hopefully Zooz will come to their senses and see how shallow it is to abandon an installed base of 800 LR users just because they ran a hardware rev to create a new model that is largely the same thing, i.e. 800LR. I've bought upwards of 35 ZEN77s in the past 24 months and am not amused with the abandonment. They have done a similar abandonment on ZEN76 and I am sure other models. I have many (20 or so) ZEN76s as well.
Firmware: 4.70 (released 08/2025 as OTA)
- Added new parameters: 35 β Scene Control Multi-Tap, 36 β Gamma Factor, and 37 β LED Indicator Multi-Color. You can view all available settings here.
- Optimized Z-Wave reporting behavior: when Basic Set, Binary Set, and Multilevel set commands are sent from the Z-Wave controller (Lifeline), the device will no longer send redundant report or notification commands back to the controller.
Firmware: 5.10 (released 04/2026 as OTA)
- Updated SDK from 7.19.3 to 7.24.1
I'm trying to fiqure out what 7.23.4 is. Is it something with ZWJS?
That's the Z-Wave firmware version.
Visible on the Z-Wave Details page:

I don't have that, is it only there if you are on ZWJS?
Perhaps. I'm no expert. You on the latest or near latest hub firmware?
No. That's the code the device (hub or otherwise) uses to talk to the radio hardware. Any change / difference won't break the wireless protocol itself. Imagine if it did.
C8 Pro with the latest firmware. Migrated from a C8 appx a month back and really tempted to try JS. I guess if I did and had any problems it would switch back to zip with no issues?
Quite a few 8-Pro users are using JS with no issues, and some of us have run into some device-level reporting issues that have us back on ZIP for the time being.
Switching back and forth typically works fine, so if you want to give JS a shot and see how it is for you, go for it.
