I love being able to visualize my Zwave and zigbee meshes. Two possible improvements, floor plan or position saving.
If we could place a floorplan graphic to help visualize the physical locations and connections between devices and through walls.
The second option, if we can't have a floor plan, if HE could save the positions of devices on the page when we move them. Its great to rearrange devices to see how the ceiling fan's four lights are talking to the fish tank plug to connect to the hub. We can even cluster devices around the page by rooms to see how everything interconnects. Refresh the page and poof. another 10 minutes to resort the 50 to 100 devices you have the next time you want to check on any improvements. If there was only a save button
The problem with floor plans is your house is 3d (x,y, z axis). So unless they could render a rotatable graphic on the hub (that's a whole lot of power) it would be useless.
Not every home is "3D" even if you had side by side floor plans for floors, the human mind is more than capable of discerning the multi-level parts of ones home. I know alot of people these days lack the IQ to do it, but the basic functions are there.
I'm not saying it is but how do you propose having a multi level dwelling show on a single page floor plan in 2d? I suppose you could use multiple pictures side by side but it would be really unwieldy. Even the ability to pick and choose what devices are being shown on what floor if you could have separate backgrounds would be problematic on programming with the hubs current resources. I'm not saying it's not a fun thought, I'm saying it's impractical no matter which way you go.
Definitely something Hubitat could provide, however I could understand a reluctance to offer a floor plan option to users as something they support.l, given the variations that can exist in home floorplans and the complications that could result from this.
That said, providing an option, such as Maker API to integrate with even a Community offering, where potentially device details could be linked to those being presented in an image, they could provide a way to bridge a gap between the devices in HE and a visual representation of a floorplan.
So I expect a Custom option, initially, is the likely solution. Who knows, it may become a built-in offering with enough interest and polish.
