Adafruit introduced their WipperSnapper platform, Lots of folks have been doing interesting things with the ESP32 processor and this look like a winner for the youngsters to get into IoT and automation:

I have been playing with a ESP32 with LED light strips and a few VS Code projects on the device but this looks cool.
