Yet another post about blinds

Hey all, I'd like to order two sets of blinds for my office. I looked at Bali blinds but the smart device that controls the blinds is more expensive than the blind! It would be $500 just for one blind. That's outrageous.

I'm looking for suggestions on something more affordable that will come in a custom size. Thanks!

I ordered something a quarter the price off of Amazon and will see how it goes. Unfortunately it's not hubitat enabled but I guess that's the price I pay for wanting to not spend hundreds of dollars on a blind.

It's understandable not to want to spend more than you are comfortable with. What did you end up ordering?

I ordered this blind: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B4WNFG22/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And this hub: Amazon.com

If I like them I will be ordering more blinds.

Are you looking for roller shades or blinds?
If horizontal slat blinds, I now have Leafi Home, and it works with any blind that has a turnable crank to adjust the open/close position.
Have 5 so far, and they work extremely well.
API will be released soon, so hoping HE integration in the near future.

I honestly don't care if they are roller shades or blinds, I just want them to be smart and controllable via app or set routines and such.

Looks like they are Tuya operated...

Is that bad?

Many of us here use Ikea Fyrtur which work really well with Hubitat (search for community driver) and are inexpensive. They come in various sizes, but not custom per se.

FYRTUR black-out roller blind, smart wireless/battery operated gray, 30x76 ¾" - IKEA

Edit: Well maybe not. I just noticed these are on clearance now and are being discontinued.

Ikea is four hours from where I live and they don't deliver in any case.

That’s odd. They have an online presence with delivery that I’ve used multiple times.

Yeah they say delivery isn't available in my area, and I'm not far from Chapel Hill, NC

So "Last chance to buy" is how Ikea says "discontinued?"

Looks like Tredansen is still around/staying around. I like that style blind better than the Fyrtur.

We’re practically neighbors. It’s not that IKEA won’t deliver at all to you, but that the item you are trying to buy isn’t in stock at a store or distribution center close enough to you.

That is the case with the Fyrtur shades as they are apparently being discontinued. Were you to be ordering something they have in stock, they will deliver to you (see below for example).

Of course, that still rules out Frytur for you. I’m bummed about it too since I’ve had to replace the mechanism in one of my shades, and if I were to have to do that again, I’d be searching eBay.

Check this thread out.

The IKEA blinds/shades can be shortened.

For our Kitchen we ordered a nice blind on blinds.com and use an AM43 motor for it. Total cost was around $200 (170 for the blinds, 30 for the motor)
