Yale lock failing secure join

I just setup two Yale locks YRD110. The first one worked great but the second pairs but does not work once paired. I'm guessing this is because secure join is failing?

I tried a factory reset and about 10 excludes and pair. Hub is 1 foot from the lock.

Anything else I can do?

Try far away. Seems it worked for @csteele

Moved a little further away and still no luck. I tried pairing to my smartthings hub it and worked perfectly first time...

Hmmm, and exclude, then join to HE and it fails again? That's not a Z-Wave Plus lock right? Seems there's more trouble with pairing non Z-Wave Plus vs Z-Wave Plus locks.

I have the YRD4xx and I had a lot of trouble. My working hypothesis is that I have beaming devices nearby but the Lock took "a day" to find it/them. (not a literal day, just a really long time, like 3 hours. ) My story was I tried it close, 8-10 times, nada (on secure.. 100% on just pairing.)

I gave up and finished migrating the rest of the garage. The last device I happened to migrate was the Recessed Door Sensor on that same door as the Lock. Since the Hub was back in it's intended position but I was standing there with iPad and Aeon ZStick in hand, I tried it one more time. Worked.

So. what was different?? Time, certainly. Other ZWave devices migrated, yes, but they were further away, a lot further. There are 2 Beaming capable devices 4-5 ft away. Inside, not out in the garage, and had been migrated hours before. One is 45degrees to the left of the lock, the other is 45 degrees to the right.

Any story you invent for these facts is acceptable because I really don't know what was the trick.. What I know is, the YRD4xx does not require Whisper distance because it joined securely at a distance of 30+ feet.

Got it! Tried far away but did not work, updated to latest hub firmware and it worked. Donโ€™t know why I didnโ€™t try that sooner.
