You'll still have to worry about a Z-Wave mesh, but the Zooz 4-in-1 also does lux and can often be found on sale for less than list price (which itself is a lot less than the Aeon, which in general I don't think works as well as you might think from its price). For Zigbee, the Hue motion sensor is standard and also reports lux (but like the Xiaomi, possibly only with motion--people report different experiences here). The homemade Environment Sensor device also does lux but needs power--but it's a good repeater for Xiaomi too.
