My Wifi Router is on a scheduled reboot cycle. Seems whenever I reboot my Router my Hub C8 does not react well. It hangs up. If I unplug the C8 (which is connected via Wifi not Ethernet cable) power source and plug it back in it connects back fine. Anyone know what is going on?
Do you have the hub's IP address reserved on your router?
What does "hangs up" mean? Can you ping it? Can you get to the diagnostic page?
Obligatory related comments:
- Stop rebooting your router. If it has a problem, fix it or get a router that works.
- Stop unplugging your hub. Database corruption is going to hit you eventually.
Yes, I reserve an IP for it in my Router. Have to as I also use Hoobs integration.
By Hangup yes I cannot even ping it.
Have you verified that it isn't somehow getting a different IP address? If that isn't the problem, does the light on the hub change? Do your automations continue to run even though the hub doesn't ping?
I have not noticed if the light changes but no automations or device operations work when its hung up.
I 100+ devices on my network. Doesn't happen with anything else other than the C8
Fair enough. If you have Zigbee or ZWave devices whose automations stop working when you reboot your router, that's a tough one. All else you are describing sounds like there is network negotiation that works when the hub reboots and requests an IP address, but not when the router reboots while hub is still running.
Yes exactly. I don't think its the router though I think its the C8 not negotiating properly on a reboot of the wifi router.
