I'm hoping pictures tells a 1000 words...just have no idea why I'm see this.
What driver is this device using?
Maybe just a couple of words describing what is wrong would help here. I assume that the Pillar Front is not a blind?
What device brand and model is the incorrect one here?
As a start, I would typically check what driver (device Type) that the incorrect device is using.
Will also help if you share what brand/device dimmer you're talking about. Zooz dimmer & model, GE dimmer, etc.?
Most likely, when the dimmer was installed it was picked up as the wrong device type and got assigned a shade/blind driver. This can happen w/new devices or variants of existing devices that haven't been added to Hubitat's supported device list, and so aren't assinged the right driver type when installed.
Thx… I kind of figured that. I’m just being lazy because I now have to take a home. Theater pillar off the wall to get to it.
I just got the blinds so I’ve never seen the problem before because I was never trying to add something that thought it was a blind.
It’s a dimmer plug… there are four pillars each one has it inside of them, but this is the only one that came up as a blind.
If this is still happening and you are looking for assistance, please provide the specific driver name in use and whether it is built-in or custom ("System" or "User"). Follow the instructions and note in the blue box here, stopping before you actually change the driver:
They are the 800 series minoston plugs… I’m not at my desk.
But the other three installed perfectly this is just a fluke so I’m not worried about it. To start with it works and it’s just a little bit of cleanup on the system.
It’s the only time I’ve ever had anything failed to install as the correct device type…
Once you browse to the device’s settings page in the hub interface, you can see which driver is in use.
There’s no way to understand what’s wrong without doing that.
No reason to do this until you’ve clarified which driver was auto-assigned to the device when it was paired.
Why do this if you know what the other devices are? Just make the odd device match the driver from the good ones.
You shouldn't have to do anything more than that.
All you need to do is go to the Device page for the plug, go to the Device Info tab, and then change the driver via the drop down to the same driver your other plugs are using. Takes like a couple seconds.
After changing the driver go to the Commands tab for the device and hit the Configure option. Done.
They are all using the same driver… but it’s nice to know that I can probably flip it back-and-forth and it’ll fix the problems since I can’t really get to the button on the actual plug without taking the whole pillar off the wall
Pretty much impossible that they are all on the same driver if they aren't all showing up as the same device type. Driver determines exposed device type AFAIK. Have you gone to the device page for that plug and looked at the current driver setting, compared it to the other devices?
Which specific one?
Check the one that is showing up as a shade.
I’m easily confused on a lot of stuff, but I got this one… Thanks it’s amazing how fast you guys respond…even over the holidays.
I was really asking for you to provide that information here so others can get an idea of what's going on, per the many questions above, but if you got it figured out, I suppose that's all that matters!
So how did you resolve this problem?
I went back to work on this ...this morning. You probably noticed in the screenshot above that the device is a room lighting app activator device. I was thinking the issue was with the physical. My bad.
I simply created a new identical one and deleted the one that came up listed with the blinds. All I see now in my blinds list are my blinds now.
As always...thanks!
