Hi All Im Decorating and want the light on permanently, so ive disabled the motion rule and switched on the hue lamp at the device interface.
For some reason HE is still turning the light off. any ideas?
The hall one just stays on as it should.
Go to the device page and make sure there is not another app that might be turning it off.
Also do you use any other home automation devices, Alexa, Google, etc.
Alexa yes, but theres no routines set up for lighting.
the only other rule is another motion lighting but that is time restricted and only operates from 23.32 until 5.59 the following morning
Some have found that Alexa hunches can turn things on and off when you don't expect it.
but the off command is showing in the HE log
Where else would you expect it to show? After all Alexa is controlling that light via Hubitat! And the log that you've posted is the device log, not the log from your Motion app. The device log reveals that the device was turned off, not how it was turned off, or by which app.
@terminal3 is very likely to be correct, and your light is being controlled via an Alexa hunch. I suggest turning off Alexa hunches, or removing that light from your Alexa integration and testing whether it still turns off.
If you search the Hubitat community forum for "Alexa hunch", there are a large number of similar experiences that pop up ......
I'm telling you, that feature should be opt-in only.....ugh
Correct. Amazon making it "opt-out" was truly stupid.
Yeah, because a nursing mother got up at 2:am a couple of times to deal with a newborn, lets turn on her light everyday without notice at 2am to wake her up out of the rest she needs.... We can even market it!
turned interweb on problem persisted, paused the night rule and problem gone so i have the cause but dont understand why the rule is effecting stuff if its time restricted. Have i set it up wrongly?
mmm i thought alexa controlled lights via the hue skill... with the HE unpluged alexa still controls the lights.....
I don't have the motion lighting app, but the time restrictions look different in simple automations:
Both say PM after them, I wonder if it is related to that? or if the delayed off action still occurs regardless of the disabled ON action?
Good catch! the HE is set for 24hr clock, but apps seem to still work in 12hrs need to enter 06.00 that might sort it, ill try
mine dont say that, the mark the PM but not the AM
So the motion lighting app seems to then be running as written. The time in question (3:42PM from logs) is between 6AM and 11:30PM and so after a minute from being triggered to turn on by motion it will turn off the lights, unless I am missing something.
Edie: I see now the automation you posted was the non-night mode one. So it should be disabled. I think the issue is with the night mode automation.
It will; from the screenshot, the "turn off" half of this automation is not restricted. If that is what is desired, the appropriate option is under "Options for Additional sensors, Lights-Off and Off options."
That being said, if the entire thing is paused, none of it should be happening...
The night mode rule was not paused, and post 10 indicated that pausing that automation fixed the issue. I am guessing there is something in that rule that is causing it to still operate during the day.
Can you share your night mode automation for review?
if i knew how yes!
but i did share what is in the GuI above.
That was for the daytime rule, I am curious about the night mode one, as it seems that is the one with the issue. A pic of the GUI should do fine.
