Why does Hubitat keeps loosing hub time?

I know. So there's definitely some time zone discrepancy that underlies this issue.

Yep, thinking a time zone issue like @gopher.ny was hinting at... Must be trying to sync with the mothership back in the U.S.

Yup. While an incorrect time zone was selected.

Hmm, that means if I post throughout the next 3-4 hours like I tend to do people will know I probably should be in bed.... baaah, whatever, who needs sleep....

Sleeping is almost as annoying as pooping. The human body is a dumb design.

Even the developers of Java came up with a similar solution, perhaps not a justification for the solution, but maybe a periodic garbage collector is the best we have...

There's an endpoint to scan local network for NTP services:
http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/scanForNtpServers

Or just set server name/IP manually:
http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/ntpServer/

It picks UTC time from time.google.com which I'm sure has multiple, geographically distributed servers, and then converts it back using hub's time zone. But yeah, mothership

Located Australia. I'm not sure if my ISP Telstra would be blocking NTP servers. How do I check this?

Telstra's router would have firewall I'd guess. Not sure if its blocking.

Yea I take back what I said. I just felt like I hit a wall right away with this time issue.

Funny thing is, i did not have time issue at my old house which was connected to Asus router.

In new house I'm using shitty telstra router for now, so maybe it's messing something up.

It appears that your time zone is set incorrectly on the hub. Correct that and I bet your problem will go away.

You're probably not alone in using an ISP router.... as inconvenient as it can be at times, ideally time shouldn't be your major concern.... Was just worried about how it may have come across with a few of us jumping on your post.

Feel free to operate on your own time down here

My current Australia time below.

Went to those 2 links you gave....
http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/scanForNtpServers

Which one I select?

http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/ntpServer/

Page returns 404

How do I correct it?

In the Hub, go to Settings, then Locations and Modes, and there you will be able to set your time zone, and physical location of your hub. Be sure to click the UPDATE button. Afterwards, it might be a good idea to reboot your hub from the Settings menu.

To provide you some context, I also get a 404 error, when going to http:// < Hub-IP > /hub/advanced/ntpServer/

hahaha!! I think this speaks volumes

Looks like Google (which is default setting) got picked, best to stick with it.

Sorry, the full URL is:
http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/ntpServer/serverName

For example, http://your.hubs.ip.here/hub/advanced/ntpServer/time.google.com

That doesn't return a 404 for me, but just returns the text time.google.com in the window. That said, I may have a rpi set as my NTP server, somewhere in my setup...
