Why Does Everything Shut Off at 8:05PM Every Night

I am new. Every night at 8:05PM, every switch, every light, everything shuts off. I cannot find what I have done, or what app is doing it. I look at the logs, but it does not say what app is doing it. Can someone please help me.

Welcome to the community! You will like it here.

When you look at the logs (click the Past Logs button and scroll back to 8:05 PM), each line in the log shows the source of that event. For example ..

If you click on the source, it will highlight at the top the application or device that logged the event. Probably best thing to do is see what the first event was at 8:05 PM. Something sunset related perhaps?

Since you are new, you may not be able to post a screen shot yet. If not, just let us know what you see.

Another thing you might try

Go into the Devices section, select a light that was turned off, scroll to the bottom and see what apps are using that light in the "In Use By" section

I find this to be an easy place to start, there can be a lot going on in the logs

Welcome to the community. Nothing more frustrating than what you described. I sit here scratching my head wondering what to say. When did this start? can you go to one or two devices and turn on all logging? Then wait for 8:05?

what is app 205? To find out, click on the "info" on the same line.

Sorry Aaiyar, I was so frustrated, I went to bed. I just went back to look at the logs, and they only go back to midnight. I will have to wait now until 8:05PM tonight now. I appreciate the help. I dont ever remember adding a 8:05PM anywhere.

Thankyou, I will try that. I will have to wait now until 8:05PM tonight again, as the logs only go back to midnight.

Thank you Toy4rick, that was so helpful. I will go into each switch and light and find a common denominator (app), and then try and find the 8:05PM trigger.

But you can still take a look at app 205.. (and maybe 19) and report back..

So the 205 was a rule I made, I deleted that rule, and made a scene instead. I still never found the 8:05PM anywhere in there, so we will see tonight if it still happens. As far as #19, it was a Device Activity check, so I deleted that app as well.
It doesn't really answer anything, but hopefully fixed for tonight.

That sequence sure looks like it includes the guilty parties...

Perhaps not totally related but I have seen, twice, what appeared to be ghost rules. Meaning the action that ran didn't match the rule itself.

In both cases, I deleted the rule and re-created it and all was well....

but to be clear: I was frustrated at things not working as I expected and started clicking around to figure out why -- I wouldn't say I tracked it down to ghost rules with 100% confidence (it just sure felt that way) -- In general I've found RM to work quite well.... (I've got a lot of rules)

You're saying the dog did it?

Yes, obviously.

Thank you all for your help, it is appreciated. It DID NOT fire at 8:05, so I am assuming it was the Rule I made. I dont understand the 8:05PM part, but just learning.
