Very much not in the automation space... Tennis was/is a big p[art of Summer for many Australians, at least growing up for me (remembering watching Pat Rafter while holidaying in Queensland.... ). Wimbledon is probably the other major Tennis tournament that people gravitate to. I was curious if many people here follow our "happy slam"....?
I must say I feel lucky to have grown up in the era of Federer, Nadal and Jokovic. Personally I enjoyed watching Roger.... Sublime shots.... And just a nice bloke...
On a different note.... I do feel for the current players who cannot publicly convey their country of origin... For different reasons... While Australia have benefited from this, and I am appreciative we were chosen, it doesn't sit well with me that this is the way things are... Tennis players do seem a strong bunch that will punch through the mess and pave the path for many other sports and society.
I haven't followed very closely for a bit, but I was a die-hard tennis fan from the mid-80s through 2018 or so. Really enjoyed some excellent eras during that time: Lendl/Wilander, Evert/Navratilova, Agassi/Sampras/Becker/Edberg, Graf/Hingis/Seles/ASV, Federer/Nadal/Djokovic, and Williams/Henin/Clijsters/Mauresmo. All in all, nothing compares to Federer's run from 2004-2007 ... the definition of dominance.
He was/is one of the prettiest players ever on the court. Made it look so easy.
I was a Rosewall fan in my early tennis years, so gritty and persistent. Laver earns the term sublime, and I also loved Connors. Because of him I played w/a T2000 for quite a while even though I really didn't love it.
My wife loved Edberg (in both a tennis and carnal sense).
