Which Switches

Coming over from ST. Know I will need some new switches. What works best with Hubitat out of the box? I want to keep things simpler this time. GE? Zooz? Zooz 700 series? Thanks for any and all advice.

From my research, zooz, ge, and inovelli seem very popular and compatible. I went with Inovelli very recently and so far I'm super happy with them.

By unanimous vote Lutron by far.

I thought Lutron required another hub

It does it requires the casetta pro hub. Hubitat's integration with Lutron is hands down better than any other switches. Search the forum you will have a very hard time finding anyone that has a complaint (other than the appearance of the switches), and find an abundance of those stating their reliability.

That hub also allows you to integrate their very less expensive, extremely versatile pico button controllers.

These pico button controllers allow you to make infinite amount (well up to 75 devices per bridge) of 3 way light switches without running any wires, along with button controllers for any and all other smart devices on your hubitat

Correct. But let me reiterate everything that @waynespringer79 said. The switches/dimmers just work flawlessly. And Pico remotes are ridiculously versatile under Hubitat.

This makes the initial expense of the Caseta Pro Bridge well worth it!

On a side note most switches will work with hubitat, you asked which worked best which is lutron. I went down that hole of trying different devices because I didn't want "another hub" my mistake was it took hundreds of $ of different switches to realize I should have went with Lutron in the beginning and saved $ and TIME from the hassle of unreliability of other switches.

ok, I get what you are saying... question... So say this set to start? Is it the Pro hub you speak of?: This one?

I couldn't see within that home depot listing which bridge is in that kit. The model number you would want is this one whereever you can find it at the best price.

No. That is the regular Caséta bridge. @waynespringer79 has indicated the part number for the Caséta pro bridge.

Here’s a link to the correct product:

Lutron hands down! And yes, as others have said, it requires the Lutron PRO hub, not the regular Lutron hub. I've tried GE, I've tried Leviton. I ripped them all out and went 100% Lutron. Added benefit - no neutral wire needed for most applications. Downside: they're not cheap.

Plus a few years off your life as your blood boils while staring at a non responsive zwave switch. Lutron all the way.

Not to hijack the thread but speaking of Lutron, I just added a $12 pico stuck to the underside of my outside patio table, to control the outside symphonisk sonos speakers with instead of having to use the phone app. << Just one example of how versatile the picos are.

I’ve been using Picos for the same purpose - controlling a Playbar, Sonos One, and a Symfonisk.

I like the Caseta, and LOVE the Pico. Pico are very useful, and so versatile. It is worth buying the Lutron Bridge Pro just for the Picos. The Caseta switches themselves just plain work, but they lack lots of features that you find on some Zwave switches like scenes, double/triple taps, nightlight mode, indicator LED, and so on. And maybe that isn't important to some, but there are places where I don't have room for additional switches, so doubling up functions is nice to do at times.

I like the Zooz and Inovelli over other Zwave switches for a couple reasons. One being they have available firmware updates which sometimes add a new feature, or fix bugs. Their switches also have tons of neat features which you cannot find on other brands. And they are not expensive either, you get more features for the same price or cheaper than other brands.

The GE/Honeywell/Jasco (same thing) NEVER allow firmware updates. Not that they are buggy or anything, but it would be good to have that option. They also have had capacitor issues in the past which has caused switches to fail prematurely. I am not sure if this is fixed with the newer versions of their switches, it might be too early to tell.

+1 for Lutron. They just work...every time...without fail.

Plus, a Lutron Caseta SmartBridge Pro can be natively integrated with numerous other systems, independent of Hubitat. Thus, you're investing in a lighting system/solution, rather than just some switches/dimmers. The SmartBridge Pro works directly with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Hubitat, Home Assistant, SmartThings, Node-RED, Logitech Harmony Hub, Ecobee, Sonos, etc...
