I would not expect the nature of the integration to change with certification, only the warning that it's not certified when you try to add it to your Apple Home. I'm not sure what you mean with "more complete" in particular; locks, garage doors, and other types of devices that are not currently supported are likely to stay that way because the entire reason for that is the certification requirements themselves.
Regarding a timeline, none has been announced, nor do they normally commit to specific dates for product features. I'd assume the C-8 launch and related work is the priority right now.
This is totally off base, just wrong. We have detailed discussions with Apple and they are most encouraging of moving our HomeKit Integration to complete certification.
I met both Steves very early in Apple's history (the day employee #100 was hired), and had several dealings with them. I can tell you that Jobs and Wozniak were very good friends. Each was super creative in their own very different ways, and both were very smart. They only started the world's most valuable business together...
Hubitat does seem to fit perfectly with Apple Home's local control.
Does Hubitat/Apple have a target date in yr 2023 to complete the certification, any indications of this date?
Thank you
You are unlikely to get a commitment to a specific date, and I'm still curious what you are looking for that would be different either way.
C-8 is already launched and many of us are using it now, right .. did I miss something?
With regards to Homekit certification, I really want to hear your expert's point of view as to how the future certification can add value/feature/security/ease of use to create new automation vs the existing beta application we are using today... appreciate your highlights?
With regards to my expectations for HomeKit certification, I expect more secure, neater, and tighter integration with Homekit and the devices set in my C-8. For example, I expect I shouldn't use a virtual contact device in C-8 as intermediate integration as it's easier to expose (relay the event) to Homekit using the current beta ver. I expect I should be able to expose the original device directly to HomeKit such as August Smart Lock which is a zWave device. I expect 2 ways and secure integration between Homekit and my Z-Wave and ZigBee devices configured in my C-8.
It helps if we get an indicative time such as 1st or 2nd half of year 2023?
I hope that helps!
I think I have addressed all of those points already above, including your new question about locks. And again, we normally don't get timelines for anything, and this is likely to be especially true when it's not just Hubitat but also another entity (Apple) whose timeline they cannot control. Whether Apple will tell Hubitat that they are not interpreting the guidelines correctly and can (or need to) change anything, we will have to wait and see...
The work around you are using with a virtual switch exists precisely because Apple doesn’t allow for Z-wave or zigbee locks paired to a hub like Hubitat to be integrated with HomeKit.
@bertabcd1234 mentioned that above. Hubitat would have to give up on becoming a certified HomeKit bridge in order to directly integrate locks and a few other device classes.
@bertabcd1234, are you a representative of the Hubitat support team?
If you represent Hubitat support, appreciate it if you please answer the question from my earlier text, pls see a copy below:

Hi @marktheknife, I agree that can be helpful as a tactical solution for a beta ver but I trust the best solution is to use a secure integration for any device be it, a door lock or a simple sensor.
As far as August Lock, I know it integrates directly with HomeKit using an additional device namely "August Connect" which connects to the lock using z-Wave and to my Wifi. It will be great to use C-8 instead of August Connect so all communications are consolidated in a single hub.
As it stands right now, subject to change as we move through the certification process, the current implementation (beta) is what will be certified (and no longer be beta). There are a number of variables in this process that could cause changes, but nothing we can talk about. We can't provide any better insight into the timing of certification, other than it is in process. For now, what you see is what you get for HomeKit integration. This could change in the future, and if so, we could talk about those changes if/when they happen. This certification with Apple is a fairly complex matter.
Apple requires that perimeter security devices connect directly to Apple Home, and not be exposed to Home via a third-party hub (such as Hubitat or SmartThings).
Unless Apple changes that requirement, what you want with your August lock will never happen. Btw, this is in the Hubitat documentation, so I’m unclear why it was necessary for this point to be raised so many times in this thread.
I don't understand this question. Creating automations is done either on Hubitat (using standard apps, rules, etc.) or on Home, and neither platform cares about underlying devcie details beyond the type of devcie it is (i.e., its capabilities).
The way you use a bulb in Rule Machine or Room Lighting will not change just because you also have it exposed to HomeKit and that integration happens to be certified, for example. Nor would anything change in Home except the warning that it isn't.
In other words, as I mentioned above:
(And no, support is not part of my job...but Bruce rehashed pretty much the same points above.)
Good luck, Bruce and team
This topic is not going to fruitful going forward. So we are closing it.
