What tool to use to read emails subject and turn on switched based on that?

Hi,

As of right now IFTTT doesn't have capabilities to read emails anymore. I have my Reolink surveillance systems which sends email alerts when detects motion in any of the cameras. I want to be able to read those email subject to be able to tell what camera is detecting the motion and based on that turn on exterior lights based on the segment of the house. Unfortunately IFTTT can only receive emails at trigger@applet.ifttt.com which I am using right now to turn on a virtual switch which then pushes a button on a keypad in a Lutron system but the motions might have occurred in the back of the house and I am just turning all lights for 10 minutes instead which is a waste of energy in my mind.

Do you know of an alternative way of IFTTT that supports reading an automated email send to it?

Thanks

If you have an old android device, you can use tasker with the maker api to flip a virtual switch.

Updated: should have noted the auto notification plugin is needed with tasker to read the subject.

I haven't used any in a while, but you could set up a virtual Android device to run Tasker as @Brandon suggests. I used to use Genymotion but there are others.

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately I don't have an old Android device but you gave me an idea, I just need a email client installed in my desktop at home that can react to an email and trigger an action for it, the part I am not sure how to do is the trigger

There is a program called "event ghost" which is similar to Tasker for windows. You can then launch local webhooks to the maker api, similar to tasker.

There used to be a great Gmail skill on IFTTT....unfortunately they shut that down recently due to changes in Gmail.

Can your camera send an http request?

Hi marktheknife, this is all I have for notifications, I don't see HTTP as part of it.
