What’s the best way to let the system know I’m home or away?

Lots of things need to change based on whether I’m home or away. I’m looking for ideas to tell the system that I am home and maybe don’t need notifications that someone is walking around outside. Right now, when I’m outside it Still sends notifications just from my walking around. I assume I need some kind of presence Sensor. Can my iPhone be used or are there better ways of doing it?

Search for presence. We are happy with Life 360. Numerous options discussed.

Apple TV combined with Homebridge and iPhone are rock solid.

Yes, the official iOS Hubitat app has a geopresence feature built in. This will allow you to use the "mobile app device" it creates on your hub (when you configure the app) to use as a presence sensor. It also provides a way to send push notifications to your device, and it provides an easy way to access Hubitat Dashboard when at home or away or use the new-ish "Devices" tab without a dashboard at all (works better if you have Rooms set up and only supports certain devices for now).

That being said, the app is a totally optional part of the Hubitat experience, and there are alternative solutions for presence, as mentioned above. Life360 is one. Others use OwnTracks, HomeBridge with some Hubitat integration (unofficial), an Alexa or Google Home presence feature with a virtual device, or a variety of other options. Before I had a real presence-sending device, I also just used motion sensors. When all of mine went inactive for a really long time, I just assumed no one was home. Not good for detecting intrusions (active = assuming I'm back), but good for things like turning down the thermostat....probably not what I'd recommend nowadays.
