The Roomba 981 is on sale right now on Amazon for $350. I think Amazon has a 30 day return policy, so you could try it for a month and return if not happy.
I’m very happy with my Roomba 900 series which I’ve had for over 2 years. I have a dog and cat and it’s really good at picking up their hair. The 900 series will return to the dock and recharge, if needed, and then resume cleaning. You can control via smartphone and can set it up on a timed schedule.
Looks nice, and gotta say, has the cutest promo video on the Amazon page. 
We have a Ecovacs Deebot N79 (replaced by N79s w/Alexa-GH integration) and have loved it. I did have to make one alteration as it started alerting me via repeated beeping to a problem when there was no problem - removed the speaker from it and all is well again. Had it three years and still going strong - quiet and does a good job w/our dog hair and even my wife's endless shedding of her long tresses.
