That's a nice solution to the problem!
What driver are you using for the Tradfri motion sensor?
It's connected to Hubitat via Home Assistant Device Bridge.
The Tradfri motion sensor is paired to my Ikea Dirigera hub, which is connected to Home Assistant using the HA HomeKit Controller.
Right now it's using the Generic Component Motion Sensor driver.
I'm hoping once Hubitat and Ikea get their respective Matter implementations in place, that I can decouple it from Home Assistant.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Update: I've upgraded our two TVs to use Apple TV for the apps, but am still really enjoying this automation. On one it's still a RokuTV, so the ROKU integration remains critical, and then for both TVs since I can't get the apple tv "state", I just blankly send a 'pause' command thanks to a Homekit trigger and am getting this same experience which has been amazing
I am not sure about most useful, but definitely most used.
Almost all of our closets and pantry are equipped with smart switches and door sensors. Open door=light on. Close door=light off. Simple, most used, most appreciated, or gets the least complaints from wife.
Edit
And garage entry. Except that one is instant on, run 30 min, then off.
I have never gotten around to making it more sophisticated.
+1. What I've added to this is the light level of on off depends no the 'mode' the house is in. So Kids Sleep mode the lights turn on at 30% or less so we can still open their closets when they are asleep without waking them
Contact sensors on the gates to my yard. That way I know if anyone enters.
Contact sensor on my mailbox that notifies me when I have mail. Setup for 8am to 10pm.
Motion sensor inside the cat box lid to turn on air freshener for 10 minutes.
Webcore rules for my crazy amount of Christmas lights. Lights stay on later on weekends and the few days before Christmas.
Webcore rules to delay turning on my Bosch dishwasher. The dishwasher will turn on when electricity rates are their lowest. I enable it by voice or button taps on my Inovelli switch. Unfortunately, the new Bosch doesn't have a delay button and it requires the app to delay the run, hence the need to automate.
Curiosity.... Which air freshener? Ta!
Also curious what contact sensors you are using and how the long-range is. Have a side gate that falls off everynow and then and considering alternatives,
The zooz LR contact sensor is good for that.
I have a zwave outlet installed in the wall. I have a regular airwick brand plug in air freshener. I use a motion sensor pointed at the cat box. I have a rule that turns on the outlet for 15 minutes when it senses motion
I was using the Smart things multisensor, but it's sometimes flaky and one rusted. The Ring contact sensors have been really good for the past year, especially with my mailbox. The Ring contact sensors are zwave, large, and use two AA batteries. My outdoor sensors are maybe 70 feet (20 meters) away.
