What make/model# is this

I'm hoping someone has the make/model number of the door sensor pictured below. I'm trying to find a manual online for it so I can see what type of batteries it takes and get them ordered before I pop the pin out of the hinge and pull it apart..

Yes, I know, I'mn being lazy (-:

GE Embrighten Z-wave Smart Hinge. Found it throwing that image of yours into Google search. First time I ever tried that - cool!

yeah. I just realized that myself. Didn't realize that google had a reverse image search feature. Cool.

Apparently, it uses a CR2 battery

If you get it to work reliably, id be surprised. I had several and ended up tossing them in the smart home drawer of despair. I ended up using contact sensors.

I won't disagree with you entirely. I've had two, and one has been tossed. This one has worked actually quite reliably for me for about 5 years or so now. It does seem to be a bit of an outsider.

I would use a contact sensor, but the door that it is on doesn't really fit one well. High moldings around the door don't really allow an easy fit for a contact sensor.

One thing I will give it though is that the battery does seem to last a lot longer than others I have used.

Small neodymium magnet and the corresponding drill bit to make the magnet flush.

Yeah. I've seriously considered recessing some for sure!

I have extracted neodymium magnets from laptop mechanical hard drives. The magnets are very thin and very powerful, allowing for a large gap between magnet & sensor. I paint the magnet and you can't even see it

I like that idea

and its trashed. Started to fail randomly after changing the battery.

Managed to fudge in a ring contact sensor

I have 3 of these and they never fail... full speed to the hub. Had them several years. If you wanna get rid of yours I'd gladly take them..

Zooz makes an in the door one that works quite well. Also the xfinity XHS2-UE's work well with varied moldings because the magnet has spacers. Another one that comes to mind that works well is NYCE's zigbee hinge...

I'll look and see if I still have any. If so, they're yours.

Sorry. I looked in the closet containing all the smart devices not in use, and good god if I ever did an inventory....and the Mrs saw it....shudder...not worth thinking about.

Unfortunately, it appears that the hinge sensors departed the closet to the unknown. Its possible one remains in a box in the garage, but thats probably a forlorn hope. :frowning:
