I have Bali Layered Shades with a Somfy motor using Z-Wave technology, connected to a Hubitat C-8 Pro. My goal is very simple:
Shades open every morning at 7:00 AM
Shades close every night at 8:00 PM
I’ve been having trouble getting the automation to work reliably. The shades will sometimes only move slightly instead of going fully up or down.
What I’d like to know is:
Which app within Hubitat are others using for this type of daily open/close automation?
Which driver works best with Bali/Somfy Z-Wave shades so that the open and close commands consistently run to full travel?
I’ve looked through YouTube tutorials and the community forums, but haven’t found a clear, step-by-step solution yet. I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out. But it's been almost a week, and I can't get a handle on this. Any guidance on the best driver/app combination would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for helping me get these shades working properly.
I won't claim to b a Z-Wave guru... but I at least know that the app you choose is unlikely to be your issue.... Not 100% sure, but quite high...
I would expect it is more likely your Z-Wave network... which is where my expertise stops.... Hopefully others can chime in with more pearls of wisdom...
OP’s created or posted in several threads over the last few days on this issue.
I’d suggest sticking with only one thread until you get to the bottom of the issue.
To summarize a bunch of others, the devices may or may not be responding correctly when attempting to control them from the settings page in the Hubitat UI.
Until that is sorted, do not bother trying to use the devices in any of Hubitat’s automation apps. Once the devices are confirmed to be controllable, then you can use them for automations.
@BEELEW Mark is right to call out a common Community convention to keep "the conversation neat".... Please don't take it the wrong way.... there are good reasons for these rules....
Assuming you went through the calibration sequence with the remotes first to set the upper and lower limits, the Generic Z-Wave Shade driver should work. As to control, pick your favorite rule app.
I see my earlier comments have been flagged..... If I have offended or upset anyone, then I apologise... Happy to leave my comments hidden if that is preferred but please know that I do not want to cause any distress in resolving an issue for someone here on the Community. Feel free to get in touch with me and discuss any issue you have with my comments, I am more than happy to chat about anything.
