What A pain zigbee is on the c8

after removing the sylvania bulb yesterday one of my zigbee door locks was working but not reporting status.. Re-pairing in place did not fix it.

in fact if first would not find it in place till i rebooted the hub.

then it would re-pair and open close but still not report status.

somehow the lock was fffd up.

i actuall was just about to put a zwave one in its place. (had to find a spare kwikset keypad that was compatible so i didnt have to disasemble the entire thing)

i totally removed the lock, reset it (30 sec long hold etc) and then paired it again moved inside the house.
reconfigured codes etc and it now is working again..

a good way to waste 3 hours...

sigh

I wonder if its a hardware problem? I know that usually they manifest it all devices but not always. I and some others have had ZERO issues with Zigbee. I ported my C7 to C8 back in the beginning of March. I've only paired one add'l Zigbee device (SengLed Classic bulb) had have no issues paring or dropping off.

Perhaps you can convince the Hubitat folks to "lend" you another C8 and see if the issues follow the hardware of software/configuration.

no its working fine till it doesnt.. just when you need to remove a device and have your network reconfigure or re-add an existing device all he$$ breaks loose.

Got my C8 sitting here in a box but until it seems most of this is ironed out I'm gonna stay on the C7 I think. I don't need the aggravation.

Can you check if you have had ZigBee Offline/Online events?
Go to Logs, and select "Hub Events" at the top. I'm curious if you see anything.

No i haven't . If i did i have a rule that would alert me and reboot.

That was meant for John, but I don't think a reboot really helps when this happens. It turns itself back on without a reboot (it's off for a few seconds), and rebooting doesn't seem to reduce the frequency of the events. Rebooting in this case just adds to the time your system would be offline. I'm not sure, but some of the events look like they may have coincided with the pairing of a new ZigBee device.

when it rains it pours... the outdoor zigbee switch that fits in an outdoor covered outlet.. died.. and of course the gardenspot i just got done fixing yesterday reset for some reason.. had to bring the damn thing in the house again to re-pair it..

luckily had one of the switches being used to enable rebooting the tplink wifi access that connects to my large wine fridge ups so i can monitor it.. anyway swapped it for a new peanut i had lying around..

those switches are a pain but there are not many small ones that fit in a covered outlet.. even the peanut itself it too large.

I've checked it a few times..... nothing there
