To start with, I put this in the get help section. However, everything appears to be working well now. I am just trying to see if there is a root to get to.
C7 - 2.4.3.177
Hardwired network, reserved IP. Zigbee Channel 20, Wifi network channel 1, no measurable wifi in house on other channels per scan.
Also, prior to this, the last reboot was 21 January for the update to .177.
Had a weird situation the other night (7 Feb). Told Google to turn on a TV before I walked upstairs (HADB linked). That was successful. Walked across the floor to bottom of stairs, hit the button controller to turn of all lights in the basement (less than 30 seconds later) - Not successful. Tried again, still no joy. Went up to see the HE light was BLUE. Gave it a few, and no green. So, I went to log into diagnostic so I could reboot. But, it was unreachable.
Waited a little longer, still no dice. So, I did the unthinkable..... Pulled the power. Thirty seconds later, green light. I logged in, waited for boot to finish, then rebooted with rebuild option.
Two days later, still no issues.
Looking through the logs and hub events, I can see where the issue occured. There was a low memory, then it rebooted itself and came back up with no zigbee radio.
This hub has been rock solid for the last 5 years (since August of 2021). I have only had to reboot after updates, or when doing some specific troubleshooting issues I had with Z wave setup (initially).
I could chalk it up to just a fluke. However, it would be nice if I could narrow down a cause.
After rebooting, I checked the logs, and apps and device stats.
The only thing close to the time was a warning about Google connection outage detected. But, that was AFTER the low memory event. The actions shown in the log after that were the resulting logs from pressing the button (which I should note, was not successful). Since I was using Google to control the TV, it could be related ![]()
Checking the app and device stats, I see the heavy hitter is a dashboard that has always taken the top spot as it is on a display I have in the basement. It DID have a NOAA Tile device that I no longer use linked to it as an available device. However, I don't use that anymore. So, I removed it from the available devices for that dashboard.
The next two largest (by state size and % memory) were the dahsboard I use on my main floor and the weather dashboard I use as a screen saver on both of the tablets for the basement and main floor.
Thirty hours later, they are all still in the same spots they have been for years. Nothing really alarming there or out of the norm for the past.
Checking the memory history, I do a visual check about once a week or so, and nothing alarming there either. The graph attached below is typically the same I almost always see. Occaisionally, it dips down to 350K. But, that is always after a very long stint without any updates (my usual only reason to reboot).
There were no network issues (should not be related though). Wife was streaming in another room seemlessly and verified no outage events recorded in the router logs and modem logs.
Hub is on a UPS (APC 1500 Pro), where we have been through brownouts and outages with no issue and there were no tell tale light flickers to indicate any electrical issues. With the recent ice storm, there have been some flickers. But, those have been several days ago.
I know I wrote a novel. I wanted to include anything that could be relevant.
So now, I am just curious what other things I should be looking at, or should I just chalk it up to the Google outage and forget about it? Or, is it time for a C8 Pro? LOL
