Way to see if zwave device is connected directly to hub or through a repeater?

Is there a way to tell how a device is connected to the network? Can I find out if a device is connected directly to the hub vs the mesh network?

I realized I could go around and cut power to all the devices except the one I am wanting to check, but I am hoping there is an easier way.

I have a device in an outbuilding that I am trying to get my network to reach. I have a device that is almost there, and wondering if it is connected to the hub directly or if it is using a couple of hops to get back to the hub. If it is directly connected, I could use another device or two to hop out there. If it is already using a couple of hops to get back to the hub, then my hops are limited.

If you look at your zwave details the "route" column will tell you how the hub reaches the device. In my example device 19 (hex) goes directly from the hub (01) to the device (19). Device 1B goes from device 01 (the hub) through a repeater (56) to the device (1B).

Thank you. This would be exactly what I am looking for. Where do you find this view? I went to Settings->Zwave Details, but my columns look different than yours and I don't have a "route column"

What version of the hub do you have (c5/c7/etc)? My example is from a C7 hub.

Looks like I have a C-5

Alas. That info may not be as readily avaialble. Gonna have to punt on this one to someone with a C5 hub...

@csteele can you assist? Is this info available on a C5?

You'll need a secondary controller to see that information. When I used a C-5, I used a "ZWave Toolbox" to evaluate my ZWave network.

If the device is a Zooz switch, you can hold down the bottom button for 15 or 20 seconds and the switch led will turn green if directly connected or blue if connected to a repeater. It will flash if the signal is weak. This is built in to the switch firmware.

Thank you. Yes, I have a Zooz switch. Great feature. I actually have two Zooz switches. The switch at the outbuilding flashes green, meaning it has a weak signal directly to the hub. I doubt this is accurate, though, because the hub is a long way from the switch, through several walls.

To experiment, I moved the other Zooz switch out to the garage to the closest location to the outbuilding. The Zooz switch in the garage showed a sold blue led. The Zooz switch in the outbuilding still shows a flashing green led. I even ran a temporary wire to the outside of the building in case the metal walls were creating too much interference.

I have one other location that I need to try for the 2nd Zooz switch. This would be a little farther from the hub (so I might not get as strong a signal), and slightly farther from the outbuilding, but it is on the exterior wall of the garage and would have a more direct shot at the outbuilding.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to start a new thread about my connection troubles so that I don't get off track.
