Gone for the weekend. Wife annoyed because she has to turn on the light in the bathroom of our hotel room.
On a recent trip involving an Airbnb, my wife stated that I had "spoiled" her into expecting things to just work. I didn't let her see the tear in the corner of my eye.
We've had this happen several times. It's a pretty nice feeling
Oh you should have heard my wife mutter under her breath when the front door was not unlocked when she came home. She had to go into her purse, dig down into the Mariana Trench, and actually put a key in the front door because she forgot the code. The horror! Thankfully the issue was resolved with lots of input from forum members. The rule was broken.
I just use it on my phone. We need our daily Jeopardy! fix.
My kids when we stayed in my parents condo for a night:
I don't like this house, its dumb.
(As apposed to our "smart" house)
You're killing me, seriously.
Pretty soon the younger generation won't remember when you had to actually turn on a light
My kids already have no idea how to flush the toilet.
Nothing to do with HE though.
It's funny how at home automations can work flawlessly a thousand times but the one time it doesn't work, my wife is complaning about the home automation 'never works'. You don't realize all the times it works and you didn't really notice. Then we go to a hotel or an airbnb and you realize how much the automations at home just blend into the background and make life easier. At an airbnb or hotel we miss how the lights come on with motion, come on dimmer in the evening and really dim in the middle of the night, one button turns off all the lights, closes the blinds and locks the doors for the night among other things.
My kids are 6 and 8; they have savings accounts and treasury bonds but don't know how to use light switches.
Hate to disappoint you, but mine are 30 and 28 and are pretty much the same.
We have automatic flushers for our toilet-trained cats. We have to remember to flush when we go to a friend's house.
(Quickly removing @Equis & family from our guest list.)
You have a link for what youβre using?
Unfortunately, no. I couldn't find anything for tank toilets anymore. All I could find were commercial toilet or urinal applications. I made my own out of big-azz remote-control car servos, IR distance sensors and Arduinos, all from Amazon. Here is the code and simulator if you're interested. PM with any questions so we don't hijack this thread. I missed an opportunity to use Arduino Everywhere to integrate it into Hubitat.
Wait!!! How do you do that? is there an app or driver? I'm tired of listening to my wife complain about scooping the litter boxes but being unwilling to finance the project to semi - automate that process.
These are actually our second and third cats we've done this with. There are YouTube videos to DIY, but this time we used a product called CitiKitty. It takes about a month and you have to be VERY patient and encouraging when reinforcing good behavior. We still give treats when we catch them doing what they're supposed to. I don't think I could have done it if I didn't work from home to, um, do a little paw holding when needed, but now they go whenever they want.
In lieu of training, I would consider the Litter Robot, too, and I think that has a Hubitat integration.
Edited to bring this back to WAF: My wife wouldn't have trained them. That was 100% my job. She's not nearly patient enough and gets frustrated so her tone changes away from "encouragement". BUT she does enjoy the lack of litter box.
Not inviting you over.
