So I removed a few Z-Wave bulbs from my setup and then performed a Z-Wave repair. After that I noticed that all of my door sensors (WADWAZ-1 GoControl) are no longer updating their open/closed status, HOWEVER, they are updating the tamper notification. Anyone have any ideas? I'd have to exclude 5 of them, add again, and fix my rules...trying to avoid this.
Your bulbs were probably acting as repeaters for these. You may have weakened your mesh enough to send them into a funk. Bulbs repeat, contact sensors do not. Sometimes I find that I need to open/close things a bit after a repair. I have these exact sensors.
1.Check the device page and make sure they're using the generic driver and click configure a time or two. Then try triggering the sensor again.
2. Try removing the battery for a few seconds on each and putting it back in and triggering open close a few times. Hopefully you didn't install them with the tiny screw hidden.
The bulbs were pretty far away from these sensors but that could be what's going on. I have removed one sensor and added again. It stops responding after a few opens. I'm not sure what one earth happened. I do have a number of Iris outlets that do zigbee and z-wave repeating. I'm wondering if the Z-Wave side of those outlets is messing things up now. I haven't had any issues prior to removing the 3 bulbs.
You never can tell how Z-Wave devices will route, I've had them take what look like crazy routes to me, but they worked fine regardless. So removing the Z-Wave repeating bulbs could be the issue.
You can try a Z-Wave repair to see if that helps the buttons sort things out. HE has said that it can take a bit for new routing to settle in after a change.
Which hub? If you have a C7, what routing do you show the buttons using on the Z-Wave Details page.
I have a C5. I've tried the Z-Wave repair function and left everything overnight. No dice there. I'm going through the pain of removing devices to see if that helps.
did you try what i suggested first?
Yes I did. Thanks but nothing is working. Even TE-adding them is causing issues
Then there's probably a mesh issue.
You could try pairing the contact sensors w/them next to the hub, and letting them sit like that for a while to see if they keep working. If they keep working you can then try moving them to their desired location and see if they survive. That will at least confirm this is a range/mesh issue, as @april.brandt believes (and I do as well).
Did you ever figure this out. I have about 6 of these and they are good for a while and then just drop out. What device driver were you using
No I ended up switching to zigbee sensors and havenβt looked back.
Same thing I've done over time...my GoControl contact sensors seemed to just get less reliable over time until I got to the point that I replaced them w/Zigbee contact sensors. I've had the GoControl sensors since my first days w/SmartThings so they were probably about four to five years old when they started to go south. I have two left that are still working well.
Yea I am not sure if it is the sensors or the relays. I use them as relay sensors for my outdoor motion sensors and with Smarththings....no issues ever but now with Hubitat nothing but problems.
