Yes, this is a feature apps do not support unless specifically implemented, in which case it is normally also documented as such, and unfortunately for your use case, Visual Rule is not currently one. As you are probably aware, you could create this in Rule Machine to do what you're looking for, or depending on your actual automation, Notifications or another app may also be a good fit.
