Hi there
In my home there are 2 lights in the kitchen.
One is placed in the middle of the kitchen which I turn on with motion sensor when someone is walking in the kitchen.
The other light is placed above the dinning table.
I don't want to turn this light on with the same notion sensor, because most of the time we are not sitting and just getting some snacks
So I want to turn the table light only when someone is really near the table.
I thought about vibration sensor that will be attached under the table, so when someone is touching the table it will be turned on.
Did someone try something like it?
I see that the motion sensor like fibaro and aeotec has also vibration sensor, do you think it can detect such action if I will attach it under the table?
A vibration sensor might work, though it might also pick-up other vibrations - the rule might be able to take that into consideration… You could also try a motion sensor under the table that would detect motion of legs under the table. It would also detect a pet if you have one though…

In addition to what Sebastien said, you can make a beam sensor by shielding part of a motion sensor. The beam could be somewhere that it only gets tripped when you are in the dining table area. I use this with a stairwell so I don't detect motion in the adjacent hallway.
There are a few ways to do this beam sensor conversion, some use selective application of white tape, others glue an extender ring on the sensor.

Definately would go with a motion sensor over vibration sensor. I use one under my bead pointed towards the door with a cheap led strip connected to a plug. It captures a person getting out on either side or coming back in the room. Like mentioned above you can tunnel vision them easily if it warrants it.
