Very Happy with Hubitat, still have a few questions

I have had my HE for about 2-3 weeks now and I love it. This is my first foray into HA and everything seems fairly straightforward. Have installed around 25 GE/Jasco switches, dimmers, and receptacles and love the double tap functionality. Installed two Fibaro water sensors (took a little bit to get the driver working properly, this forum helped me out). One water sensor is for my sump pit, the other sensor is on a relay connected to my smoke alarms. Getting the hang of Rule Machine. LOL

Just ordered a Schlage Connect Zigbee lock and a 10 inch acer tablet for my wall mount dashboard. Is sharptools the way to go, or is the built in dashboard sufficient. Also I hate monthly subscriptions, does sharptools have a option for a one time purchase?

After reading a lot about doorbell integration with HE. I have decided to wait for the Aeotec Doorbell 6 to come out (hopefully soon). It basically does everything I want other than video.

In regards to video, I am looking for some suggestions. I have an idea what POE cameras could do with Blue Iris software running on a local computer, but I am wondering if this is overkill or the best way to go. I simply want one camera at the front door, one camera at the backdoor, with local saving of video. Motion sensing would be nice as well.

Thanks for any suggestions

You've been busy.

My gut call is that the dashboard is -or eventually will be- enough. It just took a big step up in design and customization.

I'm also taking a wait-n-see approach to cams. I expect that HE or devs will get there, perhaps with the Wyze Cam and RSTP.

With regard to Sharptools v Dashboard I think the recent update has tipped the balance greatly towards Dashboard. I used Sharptools (which is great btw) because of the original dashboard limitations on customisation and general presentation, but it always meant updating the devices for Sharptools to access when anything was added and it's reliant on the Cloud and therefore not as instant to update. With Dashboard 2.0 already nearly as good as Sharptools IMO and being local and inbuilt it is now the way to go and I'm sure will keep getting better.

There’s also @kewashi’s Housepanel App that you could consider and Others speak highly of Blue Iris.

HousePanel is a donation-ware open source solution that is highly customizable. If you have the patience to do an install on a rPI then I think you will be happy with it. If you are impatient and just want a plug and play solution, go with dashboard or sharp tools. If you do decide to try out HousePanel and succeed with the install effort, you will be rewarded with the most flexible dashboard available anywhere.
