Using <iframe> in your CSS file to integrate "Ambient Weather" on Hubitat

This is my first Tech Tip Post. I apologize if it's been posted in the incorrect category.
Not sure if this would interest anyone else, but if you want to integrate your “Ambient Weather” dashboard, here is how I did it. This just a shortcut to creating a template with multiple attributes. I’m a “noob” and always looking for an easier way to do something that someone else has already done.

Start by creating a text (CSS) file…
After you’ve created and uploaded the CSS file via “Settings -> File Manager”, use the HTML “Tile Template Generator” (to create a device to add your new imported attribute to) and “Tile Template Device Manager” (to associate the “html#” attribute you’ve created with the device).

I called mine “WeatherHome.txt” (you don’t have to use the .TXT extension)

I was able to see find my weather station ID by clicking on the tabs at the top. When I did, it populated. I also checked other nearby weather stations on the Ambient Weather Network and was able to see others that shared their weather data.

Let me know if this helps anyone else! : :cowboy_hat_face:

Great suggestion! That's a good general purpose way to integrate other web content into your control panel.

Thanks Eric, I really appreciate the feedback. :cowboy_hat_face:

Would this work for other brand weather stations?

Is the WeatherHome.txt the CSS file?

I cannot say, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to try it. Let me know what you have and where it's being shared and I'll take a look.

It should work for most any web page. I used a similar approach to integrate camera images.

Right at the moment, it isn't being shared. I just got it. It is a used Texas Weather Instruments WRL-25. I did not get a disc with the TWI Log program. I was able to find a copy of the TWI CAL program. I am able to access the information via a terminal program. I'm having problems getting the Weather Display program running. I thought I had it working, but it stopped displaying information. It will have the capability to share once I get it working. Until then, it is just trying to figure out everything related to this unit and Hubitat.

So, since it's not public, you'll have to swap the address posted for your own and give it a try.

Yes it is the CSS file...

I hadn't thought about using it as a general purpose way to integrate other websites until @Eric.C.Miller mentioned it, but I added my WiFi VENSTAR ColorTouch today...

Controls are functional using the same "iframe" format that I used for the Ambient Weather station. I like having an additional control on the wall. :cowboy_hat_face:
