I see this has been a topic for quite a while. What is the latest and easiest way for me to check my lights and locks when I’m not home.

While the app @aaiyar mentioned does work. It is not the "easiest" way IMO. To get to a dash via the app take several clicks and it's slow.
As an alternative you could try this instead. Open the app and make it so you can see the dashboard once. Then clicking full screen button
Next click your dash to open it in your default browser). In Chrome click the 3 dots and then Add to Home Screen. For iOS click Share and then scroll down to Add to Home Screen
Close hubitat and try opening the dash using the new shortcut. This not only opens your dash directly and much faster it removes the header/footer making it much nicer to use.
