Using Ecobee state change as a trigger

Hardware & Apps: HE C-7 v. 2.2.4.145, ecobee smart thermostat with voice control, Universal Ecobee Suite 1.8.47.

Objective: Trigger a rule when the operating state of the ecobee changes (at the start or end of a heating call, for example).

The triggers I've used so far have never actually caused the rule to execute. Here are the ones I've tried.

Capability: custom attribute >> device: ecobee thermostat >> attribute: equipmentOperatingState >> comparison: changed

Capability: Thermostat State >> Thermostat: ecobee thermostat >> Thermostat State: changed

If I watch the device page for the thermostat when a call for heat starts, I see the equipmentOperatingState change from idle to heating, but the rule does note run. What am I doing wrong?

I ended up getting this to work with the trigger shown in the attached screen shots. However I'm now using Home Assistant and it's HomeKit Controller integration to get equipment status updates locally. Much faster and more reliable than using Ecobee's web API.
