Using a variable as a trigger

I have a rule that sets a variable to true/false when certain things happen.

I'd like to use the true or false of this variable to act as a trigger. Example: If "VariableGarageLightsOn" stays true for 4 minutes, turn OFF "Garage Lights".

I do not see an option under triggers to select a variable. My list stops scrolling at Thermostat State...

you might want to try a different browser or device. You see how the box closes off after window shade… youre missing some stuff, and its being rendered.

I'm using a Windows Computer and Chrome.

I'll try something else.

I just tried using my phone. I was able to pick up the variable option in the list, but not the valve, window shade, or water sensor. Is this list just things I would have, or is the list the same for everyone?

Next question--- why is it not working with Chrome and Windows.... Are others have this same issue? :thinking: :thinking:

Yes, selections for devices you do not actually have on your hub are hidden (there should be a "Rule Machine also supports..." paragraph below that dropdown listing such items, though on a mobile screen with the list opened it might be hard to see).

Not sure why it isn't working on Chrome on Windows for you, but if you created the variable after creating and opening this rule (and didn't do so again since), the above could actually be why. Otherwise, maybe a font size or zoom issue?
