Using a smart light switch to trigger a routine

I have smart light switches in my house and they work brilliantly. I have them set up so when I switch the living room light off in an evening, the rest of the lights all go out and the upstairs lights come on (bathroom etc.)

However occasionally, I just want to switch the living room light off - is it possible to set a rule to trigger only with a long press of the switch or something? Or have a rule cancelable with another action (e.g. if another switch is pressed immediately afterwards)?

I have tried differentiating between physical press and app-triggered, but it doesn't work with that switch (and in any case, it would mean I'd need my phone to do it).

Thanks
Chris

If you are using a button control use the HOLD state to trigger your living room light off

It depends on the switch. Some devices can support events like hold or double tap, some don’t.

Yes, with the right logic in your rule, something like this could work.

This is also a feature that is dependent on the device.

What brand/model switch are these?

I'm a huge Caseta acolyte, but I very recently swapped out my garage's Caseta light switch for a Zooz Z71 so that I could set up a paddle "hold" rule to accomplish a desired thing out there (long story!)

So far, so good. I'd love it if I could do that with my Caseta switch directly, but so it goes... Several Zooz switches allow this additional "scene" capability as well as Innovelli Reds (which are unfortunately out of stock for the foreseeable future). Maybe more too, but those are the brands I know off hand.

and I realize a pico would've been another easy option for me, but garage is detached - it's currently -10F out there now, so I avoid battery stuff out there as much as possible!
