US-LR or US does it matter which you select?

Have been working to resolve some Zwave reliability issues and saw this setting in ZWave details.

My system was set per the first picture below, that is US-LR.

Presently while I have some LR capable devices I am not using that feature. So I switched the to alternative setting (lower screen shot) US - 908.4 MHz, 916 MHz thinking disabling LR might lessen cpu or memory load and maybe sidestep any bugs in the LR code.

I find the system keeps reverting back to the US-LR mode by itself. After pressing the update setting button after several seconds it reverts back to US-LR.

Not sure this is a problem but why offer the non-LR option if it won't save? As I said while I have a few devices which are LR capable I didn't pair any of them as LR devices. I do have a Schlage deadbolt that was paired in S2 security mode if that matters.

C8/8Pro will use (and only use) the US-LR entry. The plain US (non-LR) entry is used by C7 and below, since those models cannot do LR.

No matter what hub model you're using, you cannot set the "other" option.

Begs the question why they don't have a runtime test to just offer the options relevant to the hardware platform.

In the grand scheme of things this is a tiny issue though. That's probably what the developers are thinking.

It appears I can on my C8.

you might be able to "set it" but after you press update setting it reverts back. That's what my c8pro does anyway

I stand corrected. Kinda confusing tho.

Guess I'm easily confused. :person_shrugging:
