If you have a Batteries Plus store near you, they usually carry the 9AH batteries.
Which make and model of UPS are you using that came with 9 AH batteries?

I know that AGM batteries normally charge to a slightly higher voltage than regular batteries, but I have never found using them to be an issue.
If memory is correct, I believe the model is APC SmartUPS SC 450VA.
OK That is one of the smaller UPS units. I think it has only one battery, so one 9 AH battery makes sense. I have a couple of smaller units but most of mine are 1200-1500 VA with 2 batteries.
Nope it definitely takes 2 @ 9AH
Installed the new battery today. The factory QA tag on it showed it was QA'ed in November, so I guess the battery is about five months old.
I turned off the UPS and replaced the battery. Turns out that the battery was already fully charged (according to the UPS display and PowerChute).
Sorry for the delay in responding, but was given a jolt tonight to respond ![]()
The two units I bought ~3 years ago were APC BX950MI-AZ. The manual said that the battery was not user replaceable, which was not entirely clear as to whether they were not replaceable at all or whether it was just not by me. Looking at the APC web site it looks like there are replacement batteries for these models, so maybe it is a case of needing a professional to do the replacement.
The "jolt" was that the second of my original two units finally appears to have failed. I spent 6-8 weeks away from home over Summer and suspect the higher temps may have shortened their life. When I came home both UPS's were screeching, needing attention, with the most exposed to elevated temperatures unwilling to revert to normal operation. The one that survived appears to have given up the ghost tonight. Thankfully I bought two replacements with the idea of either having a spare or using it in another location. This time I opted for the slightly lower capacity of a BX750MI-AZ.
