Hi, I am about to upgrade from my old C5 to a C8 Pro (just ordered it). I have a quick question regarding smart light integration. When I set up my C5 the preferred method of controlling lights was via a Hue Hub. I think because of the Zigbee issues with the lights trying to act as repeaters.
Is this still the case with the newer hubitat C8 Pro hubs?
I would still use the Hue hub to control the bulbs...using the very good built-in Hue integration, and there are one or two Community integrations that connect the Hue hub to HE as well. Controlling Hue bulbs via integration to Hubitat has always been 100% reliable for me. I have not played w/connecting Hue bulbs directly to Hubitat.
The native Hue integration is excellent (thanks to @bertabcd1234!), so I've always been a fan of keeping most of my Hue gear on the Hue Bridge. Other folks want to consolidate all zigbee into one controller, so they like having all Hue paired to Hubitat instead. That approach is particularly understandable these days since that already-busy spectrum (zigbee / 2.4 wifi) is now crowded even more by Thread's arrival on the smarthome scene.
Since I've been running Hue long before Hubitat (and SmartThings prior), I've long had some automations and scenes set up there that just make sense to leave there. Hue is an insanely reliable system, so I just don't have any good reason right now to move away from it.
That all said, I do have a couple Hue bulbs and a few Hue motions sensors paired direct to Hubitat -- those all work great as well.
